How to play
- Look at the picture at the top — that is the clue.
- A row of five invaders sways across the screen and slowly falls, each carrying an English word. Only one matches the clue.
- Drag to slide your ship under the right invader and let go to fire. The row keeps moving, so aim a little ahead of it.
- Shoot the right invader to score and move to the next clue; shoot a wrong one, or let the right one reach the ground, and you lose a heart.
- Clear all eight clues before your three hearts run out — you hear each English word spoken as you shoot it.
Questions
Is this English shooting game free?
Yes — Word Invaders plays in your browser, on a phone or a computer, with no sign-up. Sign in only to save the words you meet to your review deck.
What happens if I shoot the wrong invader?
It is destroyed, you lose a heart and your streak resets. The right invader keeps falling, so you can still finish the clue — but it no longer counts as a clean clue.
What if the right invader lands?
You lose a heart and the answer is read out, then the next clue starts with the row a little faster. Wrong invaders that land cost nothing.
Can I practise one topic?
Yes. Use the theme picker to draw the words from a single category — animals, food, the home and more.
