How to play
- You see two columns: a column of speaker buttons on the left and a shuffled column of written English words on the right.
- Tap a speaker to hear an English word read aloud in a British voice — tap it again to replay it as often as you like.
- Then tap the written word you think you heard. A right match turns both tiles green; a wrong one shakes and you can try again.
- Clear all five pairs to move to the next board. Two boards make a round; matches you get right on the first try score the most.
Questions
Is this English listening game free?

What does this game practise?
Sound Pairs trains your ear: you connect the sound of an English word to how it is written. Listening and spelling are the two skills it practises.
Is there a time limit?
No. Replay any speaker as often as you need — only first-try matches earn the full score.
Can I practise one topic?
Yes. Use the theme picker to draw the words from a single category — animals, food, the home and more.
