Find the mistake
English Spot the Error.
A English sentence sinks slowly down the screen with one wrong word in it. Read it, find the mistake and tap it before the sentence lands. Then you hear the right sentence and read the rule.

How to play
- A English sentence appears at the top of the screen with one wrong word in it, and slowly sinks towards the floor. Nothing is read aloud yet: the sound would give the mistake away.
- Read it and find the word that does not belong. Tap it, or press its number key (the words are numbered 1 to 9 from the left).
- A right tap fixes the word, plays the correct sentence and shows the rule, then the next sentence comes. Take your time to read the rule: the game waits.
- A wrong tap costs a heart and the sentence keeps sinking, so you can still find the mistake. A sentence that lands before you find the error costs a heart too.
- Find the mistakes in all five sentences before your five hearts run out.
Questions
Is this English grammar game free?
Yes — Spot the Error plays in your browser, on a phone or a computer, with no sign-up. Sign in only to save the sentences you meet to your review deck.
What kinds of mistakes are there?
The English sentences have mistakes with is and are, has and have, don't and doesn't, and a and an. Each one comes with a one-line rule.
Why is the sentence not read aloud at the start?
Hearing the sentence would not help you find the mistake, and a voice that reads the wrong word can make it sound right. After you answer you hear the correct sentence, so you learn how it should sound.
What do the levels A1, A2 and B1 mean?
A1 sentences are short and use everyday words, A2 sentences are a little longer or use the past or the future, and B1 sentences use less common words and longer structures. Pick a level on the start screen.
