How to play
- Look at the picture at the top — that is the clue.
- Five bricks hang across the top, each carrying an English word. Only one matches the clue.
- Drag to slide your paddle and bounce the ball into the right brick. Where the ball meets the paddle decides which way it flies.
- Break the right brick to score and move to the next clue; break a wrong brick, or let the ball fall, and you lose a heart.
- Beat the clock on every clue, and clear all eight before your three hearts run out — you hear each English word spoken as you break it.
Questions
Is this English brick-breaker free?
Yes — Word Breakout plays in your browser, on a phone or a computer, with no sign-up. Sign in only to save the words you meet to your review deck.
What if I run out of time on a clue?
You lose a heart and the answer is read out, then the next clue starts with a little less time. Wrong bricks and dropped balls cost a heart too.
What happens if I break the wrong brick?
It shatters, you lose a heart and your streak resets. The right brick stays, so you can still finish the clue — but it no longer counts as a clean clue.
Can I practise one topic?
Yes. Use the theme picker to draw the words from a single category — animals, food, the home and more.
