Duck crossing
English River Hop.
EasyLook at the picture clue, then hop your duck across the river on the drifting pads and land on the one carrying the right English word. Falling in the water costs nothing; landing on a wrong word costs a heart.

How to play
- Look at the picture at the top — that is the clue.
- Your duck starts on the bottom bank. Between it and the words, lily pads and logs drift across the river, each row in the opposite direction.
- Hop one cell at a time with the arrow keys or WASD, by tapping a cell next to the duck, or by swiping. Once you land on a pad the duck rides along with it.
- The top row of the river carries four pads, each with a English word. Hop onto the one that matches the clue to score; a wrong word costs a heart and shows you the right one.
- Falling in the water, or riding a pad off the edge, just puts the duck back on the bank. Clear all six clues before your five hearts run out — you hear each English word spoken.
Questions
Is this English duck game free?
Yes — River Hop plays in your browser, on a phone or a computer, with no sign-up. Sign in only to save the words you meet to your review deck.
What happens if the duck falls in the water?
Nothing is lost: the duck goes back to the start bank after a short splash. Only landing on a wrong word costs a heart.
What happens if I land on the wrong word?
You lose a heart and your streak resets. The right word is shown and read out, the duck goes back to the start and the same clue stays, so you can still finish it — but it no longer counts as a clean clue.
Can I practise one topic?
Yes. Use the theme picker to draw the words from a single category — animals, food, the home and more.
