How to play
- You hear an errand in Spanish, for example Ve a la farmacia or Ve al banco, and see it written above the map.
- Walk your character around the little town: tap a building to walk to its door, or tap a street crossing. Arrow keys move one block at a time.
- Go into the right building to finish the errand. A wrong building only tells you what it is, in Spanish, so you learn it for next time.
- Some errands have two stops in order: first the bakery, then the bank. Turn on Listen only to play with just your ears.
- Finish all eight errands. Every errand scores up to three stars, and fewer wrong doors means more stars.
Questions
Is this Spanish places game free?
Yes. Town Walk plays in your browser, on a phone or a computer, with no sign-up. Sign in only to save the words to your review deck.
Which words does it teach?
Places in a town: la panadería, la farmacia, la escuela, el hospital, el banco, el supermercado, el parque, el cine, la biblioteca, el restaurante and more, plus the pattern ve a la… and ve al… (a + el = al).
Why do I hear al banco but a la farmacia?
In Spanish a + el becomes al. So you go al banco, al parque and al cine, but a la farmacia and a la escuela. The game says it every time, so you hear the pattern.
Is there a timer?
No. Take as long as you like; the only score pressure is the stars, and a wrong building only costs one star on that errand.
