Questions
How do you tell the time in Chinese?
Say the hour + 点 (diǎn): 三点 is three o'clock, often with 整 (zhěng, "exactly"): 三点整. Add 一刻 (yí kè, a quarter, 15 minutes) or 半 (bàn, half, 30 minutes): 三点一刻 is 3:15 and 三点半 is 3:30. For 3:45 say 差一刻四点 (chà yí kè sì diǎn), "a quarter short of four".
Is it 二点 or 两点 for two o'clock?
两点 (liǎng diǎn). For counting and telling the time, Chinese uses 两 (liǎng) rather than 二 (èr) before 点: 两点, 两点半. Every other hour uses the normal number: 三点, 十一点, 十二点.
