Block stack

Spanish Word Stack.

Medium

Four columns, each headed by an English meaning. Spanish words fall in blocks: slide each one under its meaning. Four right blocks in a row clear it; a wrong one turns to junk and pushes its column up.

Arrow keys or A / D slide the block, hold the down arrow to drop faster, Space drops it at once. On a phone, drag across the board or use the buttons.

How to play

  1. Look at the four English meanings at the top of the board — each heads one column.
  2. A block carrying a Spanish word falls from the top. Slide it left or right, with the arrow keys, the on-screen buttons or by dragging across the board, until it is over the column whose meaning it translates.
  3. Hold the down arrow, or the down button, to drop it faster, or press Space to drop it at once. It locks on top of the stack in that column.
  4. A right block joins the stack. When all four columns hold a right block at the same height, that row clears, you score a bonus, the rest of the board is swept clean and four new words take the headers.
  5. A wrong block locks as grey junk and pushes its column up; the right column lights up and you hear the word. Clear four rows before any column reaches the top — the fall gets faster with every row.

Questions

Is this Spanish stacking game free?

Yes — Word Stack plays in your browser, on a phone or a computer, with no sign-up. Sign in only to save the words you meet to your review deck.

What happens when I put a word in the wrong column?

The block locks as grey junk and pushes that column up one cell. The right column lights up and the word is read out, so you learn it. Junk never counts towards a row, but the next row you clear sweeps all of it away.

How do I win?

Clear four rows. A row clears when every column holds a right block at that height. You lose if any column fills to the top.

Can I practise one topic?

Yes. Use the theme picker to draw the words from a single category — animals, food, the home and more.
